Cleaning your glasses
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Lens cleaning spray from Canterbury Eyecare
- Clean, unscented tissue
- Microfiber cleaning cloth
Steps:
- Remove Dust & Debris
Rinse under cold water, never hot water and dry with a clean tissue (This prevents scratching when wiping the lenses) - Apply Lens Cleaning Spray
Spray a small amount of lens cleaner on both sides of the lenses. Gently rub the solution over lens surface. Using a clean tissue, wipe the solution off the lens surface. - Wipe with Microfiber Cloth
Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the lenses in a circular motion. Focus on the center first, then move outward. This will remove any smears from the lens - Clean the Frames
Use the same microfiber cloth to wipe the nose pads, temples, and hinges. If needed, use a cotton swab with a little lens cleaner for detailed areas. - Intense deep clean
At any time, bring your glasses into Canterbury Eyecare and we will deep clean your glasses using an ultrasonic cleaner.
Tip: Avoid using paper towels or clothing as they can scratch the lenses. Also, keep your microfiber cloth clean by washing it regularly with mild soap and air drying it.
At Canterbury Eyecare, we provide a complimentary cloth and unlimited refills of your lens cleaning spray.
Avoid placing your glasses face down, always keep your glasses in the case provided and avoid keeping your glasses in extreme temperatures.
Having your frames fitted
Upon collecting your new glasses at Canterbury Eyecare, an optical dispenser will adjust the frame to ensure a proper fit for your face.

Having your new glasses adjusted involves fine-tuning the fit to ensure comfort, stability, and optimal vision. This process typically includes:
- Temple Arm Adjustments: The optical dispenser will adjust the temple arms slightly to ensure they rest comfortably around your ears without pinching or sliding.
- Bridge and Nose Pad Tweaks: If your glasses have nose pads, they may be adjusted to sit evenly on your nose and prevent slipping or pressure points.
- Frame Alignment: The optical dispenser will check that your frames are level and not tilting to one side, ensuring that your lenses align properly with your eyes.
- Tightening Screws: Loose screws in the hinges or arms may be tightened to prevent wobbling.
- Testing Comfort: After adjustments, you’ll be asked to try them on and confirm that they feel secure without discomfort
- Taking care: Always remove your glasses from your face using 2 hands. This will keep your new glasses in alignment for longer.
