Chris Katopodis - Optometrist

Chris is an Optometrist with over 20 years experience and established Canterbury Eyecare in 1996. He offers full scope Optometry services with a special interest in eye disease, including ocular therapeutics, and contact lenses.

Chris lives locally with his wife and three children and enjoys keeping fit and active involvement in his kids activities.


Genevieve Hastings - Optometrist

BScOptom(Melb) CertOc Ther(ACO)

Genevieve has over 20 years’ experience as an optometrist and offers a comprehensive service with a special interest in children’s vision and ocular disease. She worked in private practice in Melbourne, Western Australia and regional Victoria before opening her own practice in Prahran in 2001. Genevieve joined Canterbury Eyecare in 2006, becoming a partner in 2010. She completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2016. She enjoys taking time with each patient to listen and discuss their visual needs and provide a thorough examination.

Genevieve lives locally with her husband and young daughter and works at Canterbury Eyecare Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays plus alternate Saturday mornings. Each week Genevieve looks forward to spending Sunday morning breakfast with her family at their favourite local café.


Matthew Denham - Dispensing Manager

Matthew joined Canterbury Eyecare in 2011. He has over 20 years experience in the optics industry and is a qualified optical dispenser with a Guild of Dispensing Opticians certificate.

Matthew has extensive experience in management and training and has previously worked in corporate optometry located in metro and regional stores. Recently married, Matthew's interests include golf, camping, fishing and most importantly family and friends.


Athena Katopodis - Practice Manager

Athena established Canterbury Eyecare with husband, Chris in 1996. As Practice Manager, she oversees the efficient running of the practice. Athena enjoys the challenge of working part time and raising three children.

An avid sports fan, Athena supports her beloved Tigers in the AFL and Melbourne Victory in the A-League whilst also enjoying professional and amateur theatre. She is also a star performer as an extra for commercials and TV in her spare time. With work, 3 kids and a husband, spare time is limited.


Lea Stringer - Optical Dispenser


Lea has worked in the Optical industry for over 30 years, completing the Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing. Her experience has seen her involved in the manufacturing of spectacles, store management and staff training.

Lea is married with an adult daughter and spends her spare time involved with her local drama group, knitting, sewing and walking her dogs.


Melanie Ward-Webber - Optical Dispenser

Melanie joined the Canterbury Eyecare team in early 2017. She brings with her nearly 30 years’ experience across several areas of the optical industry. Melanie is a passionate dispenser, qualified in optical fitting and surfacing, achieving a Diploma in Optical Dispensing in 1994. If you would like to update your look, Melanie loves to take people out of their comfort zone and is terrific at finding the perfect match for your face shape.

Melanie is a mum of three growing active children and on weekends can be found with her husband at the side of many of Melbourne’s athletics tracks and soccer pitches.


Sue Ackland - Optical Assistant

Sue joined the practice in 2007 coming from a background in medical administration. As a local resident and mother of 2 who have grown up and gone to school in the Canterbury area, Sue is a well known member of the community. She prides herself on her personalized frame selection expertise.

When Sue is not spending quality time with her husband and walking her beloved dogs, she likes to escape to her leadlighting studio.


Pamela Constantinidis - Optical Assistant


Pamela joined Canterbury Eyecare in 2017. Having recently completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Pamela has a passion for health promotion. She enjoys contributing to frame selections and staying up to date with the latest trends in optics.

Outside of work, Pamela enjoys spending time with family and friends, fashion, travelling and supporting the Collingwood Football Club.
